Okay, so I am the Basketball manager for my local high school. I tape all the games and after wards convert them onto VHS. Since its my senior year and I've become friends with some of the players, I was thinking about putting something together for the players. What would I have to do to possibly put together a highlight video. I think I would possibly have to put all the game tapes on DVD, but after that I have no clue as to what I would do. Any input would be greatly appreciated. How would I go about making a highlight video?
Yes it can be done.
1. Transfer the VHS tapes to PC - for this you'll need a bit of hardware unless you have phono connectors already on the back of your PC. If you need the hardware see the first link below
2. You need to edit the film (unless you want ALL the film on disc) so that you can select the highlights. Cheapest way is Windows MovieMaker - you could use others but most cost and can take a while to understand.
3. Once editing is complete you need to convert the files so that a DVD player can read them. I'm not sure if MovieMaker does that - if not use Nero (second link below)
Just a couple of warnings: -
Video files are VERY large when transferred to PC - usually between 4 - 20 minutes per Gb (depends on quality settings)
Editing is VERY time consuming - when proficient expect about 3 hours (editing) per hour of film recordedHow would I go about making a highlight video?
