Making a Football Highlight Video?
What are some good pointers for making a football highlight video to show to coaches? I play quarterback so are there any specific things coaches are looking for that I should point out in a video highlight?Making a Football Highlight Video?
They will want to see your fundamentals. Footwork, your drop backs, how well you read defenses, mechanics, speed, completions to receivers. Game management ability, how well you do under pressure, can you pick up blitzes? Game clock management.
I played in NCAA and professionally. Today I hold a part time job coaching.
I can tell you that there are many factors that I look for in a quality player. For the quarterback it is their vision. The ability to see the field is so under appreciated and yet so critical. A guy with great vision can see a vertical route out of the corner of his eye and turn an incompletion or short gain into a touchdown. The ability to see is innate, in my opinion. I don't think you can coach a guy to be able to see. It is the same thing with great runners. The superstars can see the next cut before it happens. In the same sense, a great quarterback can see and visualize the play and defensive structure and be able to turn the routine play into the spectacular.
The last thing I look for is a quick release. I like a player who can get it out of there. There are drills one can do to enhance a quick delivery and I use them all. If you have a guy who can flat get rid of the football, you have just reduced the number of sacks and negative yardage plays, gaining hidden field position yards.
The things that I have just mentioned are things that in my mind are easily detected during the evaluation and recruiting process. If you watch enough tape of a guy, you will be able to tell if he is tough and competitive. You want that video to show that. You will want to show spreading the ball around and finding people in seams making you say “Holy Cow, how did he see that?” Lastly, you can tell if a guy has one of those long, slow releases or one that just explodes out of his hand.
The best quarterback I have ever coached or seen in person was 5'9” on a good day. He ran a 4.8 forty, but boy he sure could create. If anybody was open, he would find them and he could get that ball out of there in a hurry. He made play after play after play.
After we get our quarterback to campus, there are certain things we teach that are of critical importance to the development of your championship quarterback. I will list them point-by-point:
1. We tell them to never take a sack.
2. Never say: “Don’t throw an interception.”
3. Scramble to throw.
4. Throw against the blitz every day.
5. Protect your quarterback inside out.
6. Know who to throw to on the blitz.
7. Teach the quarterback to deceive with his eyes and actions.
8. Demand that your quarterback coach the wide receivers.
9. Put him in adverse situations in practice.
10. Force him to make throws in practice.
One thing that we do that I feel is somewhat unique, is script one scramble situation a day in our pass skill or 7-on-7 drills. We force our players to understand the importance of this situation daily, as you can gain huge chunks of yards. When this occurs. If you can tape a practice? Capturing your ability to scramble is huge.

I love editing videos i do it all the time. first you need a software for video editng. (im sorry i dont know of any websites to download it) If you have windows xp just go to the start menu, and all programs, and look for windows movie maker. that lets you put titles, transitions, and music on your video. The only bad part about Window Movie Maker is if your video is too long and you try putting too many transitions in it your video won't show. srry :)
first you capture your video. if your video is saved onto your computer click on import video. if your video is on your camera you can either save it to your computer and click import video, or click capture from video device. once youve done that you can drag you clip to the timeline.
next click import audio or music. look for the folder where you keep all of your music and click your song. next all you do is drag the song you want to the timeline you can change the length of the song and make it fade in or out. have fun with it!
Some tips i have is to to have a lot of time on your hands and be patient. the outcome will be awesome and rewarding :)
also you cant do any effects on your video like explosions and making people invisible and stuff. if you wanna go that far you have to buy a special software which is about $80-$100. i dont have it yet but i can help you with any questions you have i hope i answered your question

Well if you mean like edit sports clips and add music you can use Window Movie Maker (comes with any windows). Its pretty straight forward though not very ';high-tech';.You can speed up and slow down clips but it does it x2 though, you cant set the speed. If you want to make something really awesome and precise your going to have to do a little research and shopping....
Other programs I use/used : Hp and Adobe Premier

If there is something near the video that says ';imbed'; or ';imbed this video to your blog'; or whatever, then copy that code in the imbed box. Today i got 6 of my football games on dvd, and they play on my computer. I was wondering how i can make a highlight video of my best plays from this. is there any programs and/or steps to editing?Need help making Football highlight video?

I am an American and played pro football in Sweden this year. Do you think I could play in the CFL? I have also played arena ball for two years, Billings Outlaws and New Mexico Wildcats. Here is the link:

I hate your spamming to begin with but after watching a bit of your highlight video I would have to say no. Maybe you could make a canadian junior team. That level of play was not even on par with canadian university sorry to say but you don't even seem to be the right build for the CFL.What do you think of my highlight video?
Wow, I didn't know that they played pro football in Sweden. There were some good runs there, but I'd imagine that the level of competition wasn't very high. Your best bet would be to have your agent contact CFL teams on your behalf, as I've never heard of someone getting a CFL deal based on YouTube performances.
BTW, it's probably not a good idea to have two minutes of black screen at the end of your video, there...
Your best bet is to go to one of the CFL's open tryouts in the states that they have in the Spring. As with most pro sports a great deal of your history is where you played in college. Also a general rule is that CFL players are smaller and faster than their NFL counterparts.
I am sure that there is some team that would be willing to give you a tryout but the only thing to remember is that here in Canada we play a different game then what you are used to, so hopefully you can unlearn the stuff that doesnt apply and learn the stuff that does.

I'm making a highlight video of my 10 yr old's basketball season. What is a good upbeat song to use?
I am already using ';Wind It Up'; by Gwen Stefani but I have a ton of clips and want to use another song as well. I like to use fairly recent songs so when they watch the video in 10 or 20 years, they can remember what songs were popular back in 2007. use windows movie maker (included in your windows machine)... it can help you make beautiful slideshow or video clip(e.g. mixing your songs with pictures/video/lyric/etc).... then save it as video file such as wmv file format... finally upload.

What is wrong with the NBATV staff who make highlight/top10 videos?
for those of you that made the laker game there were 2 plays that did not make the top 10, one of which I thought would be on the top 10 at the END OF THE SEASON.. these 2 that I'm talking about is lamar odoms FACIAL dunk thats as good as any lebron facial or vince carter facial I've ever seen, the other was a STUFF by ronnie turiaf who honestly might've been the most intimidating block I've ever seen.. these were 2 plays that I had no doubt in my mind would make it on the top 10 the next morning, but instead the top 10 was filled with wide-open slam dunks and alleyoops.. in my opinion the 2 plays I described were funner to watch than EVERY SINGLE PLAY on that countdown excluding the #1 play, a buzzerbeater by the bucks..

definatelyI need some songs that would be good for a highlight video?
Clubbed to Death by Rob Dougan.
Don't be alarmed by the name it's a dance club song, but it's hip and trendy but usees a lot of piano and string arrangements on sample. It is in my opinion the be all and end all of highlight video music. Plus it's got no lyrics so no one can really complain about content.

One: buy Cinematize Pro from Miraizon. It's a bit pricey, but I tried the demo and it's as easy as pie to use and allows you to see what you're extracting and select the exact section you want. Two: download the free Handbrake application. It will rip content off of a DVD and convert it to MPEG-4, perfect for editing in iMovie. The catch is that you may not know which filename belongs to which scene or chapter in the DVD, so you may have to take a few stabs at it till you find the content you want specifically.

For sure, I can't stop watching Jason Arnott scoring in double OT against the Stars in 2000, and the Devils winning the Cup for the second time! It was an AMAZING pass by Patrik Elias! I also love watching Elias putting on Petr Sykora's jersey after Sykora got injured during the series and was in the hospital at the time of the win. And of course, seeing Scotty Stevens win the Conn Smythe was great :)
