Whats a good program to make a highlight video with?

Ive been using windows movie maker but i want something a bit flashy but not really hard, has to be able to edit mpg files from my sony w80 camera and i want to be able to effects on the the video like an arrow to show viewers where to look, slow mo and zoom to a certain area of the video.Whats a good program to make a highlight video with?
Sony Vegas is a great editing utility that doesn't cost much (about $80). The interface is intuitive and easy to use and the program can really grow with you as you go from light editing to major productions. I always recommend it to people who want to take the next step up from windows moviemaker. I've used top notch pro-editors like Final Cut Pro and Premiere, and they're great but they're expensive.
